Dr. Raveesha MR, a research faculty at IPH facilitated a session on ‘National Cancer Control Program’ on 15th of February 2012 for the Block Program Mangers
The session focused not only on cancer as a disease and the national program on it, but also the proactive role that BPM could play in disease control. The initial half of the session dealt with explanation of the biological process of cancer, its causes, types and treatment available. Through this the facilitator aimed at demystifying many misconceptions related to cancer and encouraging scientific understanding of the disease. In the next half of the session the vital aspects of the program was discussed with a focus on activities happening under the program at Tumkur. This was followed by an activity in which one group of participants were asked to present an evaluation of the current program and another group present the proactive role BPM could play in control of cancer. Later a critical discussion was facilitated between the groups.
