T.T. Narasimhan School of Advanced Studies at IPH Bengaluru (TTN SoAS)

Introduction

Over the past two decades, education at IPH Bengaluru has grown from research and policy engagement into a recognised area of expertise in public health, both in India and internationally. With over 1,700 alumni from online and offline courses and 16 PhD scholars registered across different institutes, IPH’s academic programs reflect both depth and global reach. IPH’s commitment to bridging evidence into policy remains at the core of the school’s work, most notably through the nationally recognised Bringing Evidence into Public Health Policy (EPHP) Conference. The School of Advanced Studies will provide these key activities with a critical platform and space within IPH Bengaluru to bring much needed focus to the expertise that is housed within the centres while building a collaboration with like-minded organisations and individuals via its teaching and engaging mandates. With the collaboration with the TT Narasimhan family, IPH Bengaluru is memorialising his legacy by proposing that the School of Advanced Studies adopt his name and vision for building this new unit within IPH Bengaluru. The T.T.Narasimhan School of Advanced Studies at IPH Bengaluru (TTN SoAS at IPH) represents a bold evolution of two decades of public health education and practice. It is shaped by critical self-reflection, global and local partnerships, and a move beyond traditional academic models. TTN SoAS at IPH commits to:

Nurturing public health research leaders who centre diverse perspectives and methodologies, and advance contextually grounded, equity-driven research

Building collective strength by democratising knowledge, enabling cross-institutional learning and creating  inclusive spaces for collective knowledge generation

Transforming policy ecosystems by bringing context-rich, field-based evidence into decision-making.

Mission

To build a values-driven hub for nurturing transformative public health leadership, through rigorous research, inclusive education, and engaged policy practice, with a strong commitment to equity and the lived realities of communities in India and across the Global South.
