Short video on Induction Training For Primary Health Centre Medical Officers, Tumkur

 

 

In collaboration with the Department of Health & Family Welfare, Tumkur District, the Institute of Public Health, Bengaluru hosted a 5 day “Induction Training” programme for newly appointed Primary Health Centre (PHC) Medical Officers for Tumkur district. Tumkur is the first district in the state to orient newly appointed Medical Officers. The 5 day programme was attended by 31 doctors (that included specialists) and was well appreciated by all. The participants felt that it gave them a good introduction to their roles and responsibilities, the district staff felt that this would make the PHC Medical Officer’s perform better.

 

A New Beginning …..

On a busy OPD day, a surprise visit by the supervisor was least expected. Pushing away all the regular responsibilities of the day, the Primary Health Centre Medical Officer [PHC MO], for the next few hours had to devote all his time and attention answering queries of the supervisor. (more…)

Misconceptions: In one’s head, and around………..

Yesterday I set off to train Health workers at KG Halli – a clean and bright training centre in the midst of a large slum. The health workers were enthusiastic and raring to go. I started off – slowly, testing their knowledge and understanding. They seemed keen to learn – a mix of Tamil and Kannada, with Urdu thrown in for good measure. (more…)

A powerful experience!!!

IPH’s urban health team has begun the training of community health workers. This is a three month training. Classroom sessions will be three days a week alternated with field exercises. The objective of the training is to prepare community members to become community health workers. (more…)
