Strategic Purchasing

One of the criticisms of the government has been that it has launched various health insurance schemes wherein it uses tax payers money to pay the private sector. This criticism may be valid as India is still new at strategic purchasing and there are many instances wherein the private sector has abused the guidelines and profited unduly from the scheme. In this context, IPH would like to study the strategic purchasing mechanisms in existing schemes and come up with recommendations to the government on how it can further strengthen SP to ensure the effectiveness and efficiency of their schemes.
