About:

Health and environment are very closely linked. However, health and environmental problems are often separately framed and studied by researchers, practitioners and policymakers. Debates in both these topics often marginally mention about the intricacies of the other and public discourses often do not borrow enough from the decades of research and practice in these disciplines.

In order to explore broadly the various kinds of linkages between the two, IPH is hosting an event which will begin with the screening of a film on the Indian monsoons followed by a panel discussion and group discussion on the various common conversations between health and environment. If you are a researcher, practitioner or a student of either health and/or environment feel free to join the conversation on Monday the 6th of July at the Institute of Public Health (IPH) from 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM.

2:30 – 3:00 PM Screening of the film ‘Lands of Monsoon’ followed by brief Q&A session. Wildlife and environment filmmaker Kalyan Varma will be present. For details, see http://www.kalyanvarma.net
3:00 – 3:45 PM Panel discussion moderated by Prashanth N S of IPH with T R Shankar Raman of Nature Conservation Foundation, Adithya Pradyumna of SOCHARA, Aruna Chandrasekhar of Amnesty International India and Neethi V Rao of IPH as discussants.
3:45 – 4:30 PM Audience invited to open discussion and Q&A with panelists.
